Your mistakes will find you, eventually.

After 2 seasons made up of 26 episodes ‘L.A’s Finest’ left me with more than burning thirst for justice, sadness and reluctance to drop my phone. ‘You can’t escape your past!’ this is one message that resonates through the series. No matter how hard you try, you mistakes and misjudgements will find you- slowly but surely. The justifications and bias behind our worst decisions will not matter in the presence of a victim. When someone is victimised because of the things we do or don’t do, there’s no justification.

Although the series include a lot of clear cut action; car crashes, explosions, butt-shots, a ton of dead bodies and amazing humour, I can’t help but relay on the fact that our characters, dead or alive, at one time or another , have come face to face with their regretful pasts.

Now you’re probably telling yourself, ‘I haven’t killed anybody, neither have I ruined someone else’s life.’ But there’s the streak of lies at the office. and the other day you supported the mistreatment of a junior staff member just because ‘it’s how the system works’. Ever wondered where your lies ended? Ever wondered how you mistakes are doing? Ever traced your lies? probably not.

We’re too fixated on our emotions and feelings, using these to justify every of our actions and inactions. We forget that the truth and the right thing always wins, and actions do indeed have consequences. That one lie you told a long time ago found it’s way into someone else’s life. It’s made a hole in someone’s life and will sooner take a 360 right back at you, literally(I don’t mean to be excessive, it’s just the resentment coming through).

The truth might be hard, but it pays. Doing the right thing is easier said than done, but it very well pays off. The truth won’t kill you, or maybe it will. But at least you’ll die having done the right thing. Don’t let your wrongs define you, neither should your life be designed by wrongs. Take a step in doing the right thing today. The world could really use it.
